FROM VINEYARD TO GLASS
"Taste is personal. Wine makes it social. Food makes it communal."

Our wine tasting and food pairing class will expand your knowledge of the grape growing areas around the world, and the wine making process. As you taste the selected wines we will discuss their style, appearance and color, the nose, palate, and flavor characteristics and why some wines are high in tannins or acidity and others are sweet. The grape variety or blend of grape varieties used in making wine is a key factor influencing the style and quality of the wine. Incorrect storage can affect the quality of the wine as does serving it at too warm or cool a temperature. If a bottle is unfinished, there are specific ways store and keep the wine fresh.
Pairing wine and food has become a hot topic because when they compliment each other, a delicious meal becomes the perfect meal. It is not a complex subject, it is about personal preference and common interactions between food and wine but there are a number of food characteristics that will typically have a positive or negative effect on the wine. We will conclude the class with some tips on table etiquette, arranging individual place settings, and how to set glasses for multiple wines, champagnes and after dinner drinks. Finally we will share the protocols of formal and casual toasting, making you the inimitable host/guest!
